Fashion clothing are items typically worn around the human body. Initially, clothing was primarily made out of textiles or cotton fibers but overtime has come to include clothes made of animal skin or different thin sheets of similar materials put together. The wearing of such clothing is usually limited to human beings alone and is typically a cultural characteristic of all human cultures. But thanks to the modernization of clothing with respect to the materials employed and the reduction in the number of exploited animals, we now have access to the wide array of fashion clothing available these days. The primary article of fashion clothing, regardless of the articles of clothing, is the dress. The dress is the most primary article of a woman's wardrobe and is what makes her stand out from the rest of the crowd. Aside from that, the dress serves as the basis for her personality, or the "style". The dress, more often than not, is either the haute couture dress or a simple everyday dress that gives the main article of clothing (the dress) the boost it needs to be noticed.
The first article of fashion clothing in the history of mankind was fur coats. Fur coats were originally worn for warmth during the winter months. These fur coats were originally made out of the hair of animals. Fur was also worn for fashion because it gave the wearer great body appeal. Fur coats were mostly worn by married women during the 1920s and were looked upon with great respect because of the elegance that fur gave off.
Another very important article of fashion clothing in the history of mankind was the dress of the First World War. The First World War led to an end to the reign of Victorian fashion and ushered in a new era of mass production. A lot of the designs used during that time were inspired by the works of art of the French Revolution, such as the so-called Louis IV coat. Louis IV's coat was the first time when designers outside of France came up with unique patterns that were later copied and reproduced by European fashion houses.
The styles and designs of clothes are still very much influenced by the Victorian era. Clothing of this period usually had a lot of intricate details, which made the pieces extremely expensive. As a result, only a few people could afford to own this kind of clothes. However, there were still a lot of people who could afford to buy clothes of this time because they were produced by famous fashion designers. Department stores such as those of New York City were particularly fond of this kind of attire.
Another period in history when men's fashion took center stage was the decade of the thirties. This was the decade when designer clothes became very popular. Gertrude Stein, a well-known fashion designer, became well-known thanks to her creation of the Manhattan dress. This dress was designed for a glamorous and fashionable woman who sought to project an image of authority and sophistication. This dress was made out of a material that was brighter than silk and featured a collar that was wider than before. Gertrude Stein's designs were quite popular and even though they were deemed to be too sophisticated for everyday use, they were still favored by women who could afford them.
Film stars like Charlie Chaplin and Clark Gable also showed great interest in clothing that was a lot different from the usual. Because they appeared in films during the time of the Great Depression, these two designers managed to tap into the fear of people regarding unemployment and poverty. They thus produced comfy, easy-to-wear outfits that were highly stylish and were instantly recognizable by anyone who saw their movies. In addition, they were also able to tap into the desire of people to have clothes that would fit them in case the movies stopped running or if they became popular again.
Some of the designs of the period were quite outstanding and led to the development of new patterns by talented designers and tailors. These clothes became the symbol of style for both women and men alike. Film stars were not the only ones who wore these 1930's fashion clothing; ordinary citizens also favored them. This shows just how popular these fashions have been even up until now.
